Braves for Sale Soon?

It's possible, since the Braves are basically disposable trash to a multi-billion dollar corporation called Liberty Media, where the CEO makes more than entire Braves roster in a year. Absolutely ridiculous.

"But John Malone, Liberty Media chairman and founder, is famous for making use of tax advantages, and he has said Liberty Media doesn't consider the baseball team a strategic asset."

Money, that's what all of it is about. Anything to get more money is obviously first on the checklist. Were not talking about moving from a cardboard box to a nice house here either. It's more like how many Mansions can be bought? Whether or not there are hundreds of thousands (a million perhaps) of Braves fans who are negatively effected by this is not a concern at all. Oh no. It's just a baseball team after all!

A sale of the team could be a really bad result, or really good. Bad meaning the new owner would slash payroll significantly in order to pocket more money (like Florida Marlins Owner Jeffrey Loria), or even get too involved in team management. Now, George Steinbrenner, who was the NY Yankees owner (passed to his son Hank) for years before he passed away was an example of a guy who got too involved, but when he let things go a little bit and spent like crazy the Yankees started raking in World Series titles. All George wanted was to win.

So, anytime the idea of different team ownership comes up, I get a little nervous.

Here's a little bit about it from Talking Chop.
