The Phillies beat the Braves 6-1 on this sunny Sunday afternoon in Florida. I was able to catch a little bit of the game on the MLB Network channel. It was another one of those, "alright, next?" kind of games as the season draws closer. Opening Day is March 31.
- Kenshin Kawakami pitched. I'm not going to bother with posting his line. The guy is pretty irrelevant moving forward and hopefully we can move him via trade.
- Cristhian Martinez struggled a bit today. He walked one, struck out one, but allowed three runs to score in one inning. He made the team regardless over Scott Proctor so that's the good news out of his day I bet. Good news for us Braves fans as well.
- O'Flaherty and Kimbrel both pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout. I'm pretty confident about the Braves bullpen this season. Although there is one exception and that is George Sherrill's ugly spring numbers. I believe he can turn it around if he is used specifically against left handed batters.
- Nothing spectacular on the offensive side. McLouth hit a nice double off of Roy Halladay and almost had another nice hit that was barely caught. Chipper Jones was 1-3 and Jason Heyward was 1-2. The team was 1 for 7 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base total. Can't win games leaving the runners stranded.
